The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful on arrival and throughout my stay. The concierge assisted me with taking my luggage to my room which was unexpected but appreciated. The whole venue is spotlessly clean. The rooms are absolutely beautiful.
The hotel's decor is stunning throughout. I had a late breakfast which was delicious.

The Urban Lounge is a perfect in between step of a hotel and a backpackers bunkbeds. The shared bathrooms were excellent, single shower room and toilets. There are thoughtful additions of a hot water tap, mess hall and an area to remote work which has HDMI ports to connect laptops to. There was turn down service of the bedrooms each morning. The room had a HUGE 34 inch TV which you can chromecast devices to.

Rotorua is living proof of the magnificent, and sometimes mind-boggling, might of nature. Smoking hot springs, bubbling mud pools and fast-spouting geysers give the surrounding landscape an almost other-worldly feel.
This New Zealand city sits in the Waimangu Volcanic Valley, the world’s newest geothermal hotspot. It was created after the 1886 eruption that covered Te Wairoa Buried Village, between 2 of many lakes gracing this fertile terrain. By Lake Rotorua’s shores is the luxurious Polynesian Spa with its thermal pools. Just behind in Government Gardens are the city’s best cultural offerings: the Arts Village, Tamaki Maori Village and Rotorua Museum, in an elegant former bath house.
Native animals roam in Rainbow Springs Kiwi Wildlife Park below Mount Ngongotaha, accessible via the Skyline cable car. The views while ascending make it obvious why this is called the Bay of Plenty. Tikitere Thermal Park on the opposite side of the lake is known as Hell’s Gate, but as long as you can ignore the sulphuric smell, the spas are simply heavenly.
More springs are in Whakarewarewa Thermal Reserve, whose surrounding forest is popular for mountain biking, and Wai-O-Tapu where the Champagne Pool is a striking mix of green and orange.
Booking.com’s accommodation range is as diverse as the scenery, encompassing luxury hotels, cheap hostels and motels near Rotorua Airport.

Rotorua is a great place to stay with plenty to see and do as long as the weather is fine. When wet there are not a lot of indoor activities to do other the Polynesian Pools, Government Gardens, and the Maori Village with the carving displays.
Many restaurants are available with a great variety of cuisines.
Accommodation is many and varied but it can be difficult to find one that meets all expectations as some of the advertising is not that clear.

This house is large and has everything needed but furniture and bedding are old. House could be cleaned a bit better as the room I stayed in had cobwebs in the corners. The furniture is old and stained from use. The sheets on my bed were stained and the bedding was old. All bedding was clean. This house is on the edge of Rotorua and takes about 7 minutes to drive to the CBD. It rates quite a bit above where it should but houses of this size are not that common. We only used two of the four bedrooms. Kitchen was well equipped, but we did not do any cooking. Both bathrooms were fully functional. Outside under the carport there are drying lines for clothing. There were towels and blankets hanging on the clotheslines the entire two days we stayed here.

2 or 3 day stay is enough to see the most interesting sights. One of the hot pools is definitely worth a visit, probably Polynesian as they are the staple (or Wai Ariki but that's more expensive). We also loved the gondola and a buffet dinner on top of the hill in the Stratosphere restaurant. One of the maori villages is also a must, we did Whakarewarewa which was informative and the cultural dance was great to see. Waimangu valley is great.

So much to do!
So much to do! It's become the Queenstown of the north island - lots of adventure activities. We did spend a fair bit of money, but we also had a great time, they just need some more good quality restaurants, and better coffee in the township - the best we found was out in the suburbs.
I loved our time there, especially the mountain biking - so fun. People were all friendly and helpful too. Def a gret place to visit, esp if you have tweens / bigger kids.
I had a wonderful time at VR Rotorua Lake Resort. The hotel is located on the shores of the beautiful Lake Rotoiti, which offers stunning views and a relaxing atmosphere. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a private balcony overlooking the lake. I loved the deep bath, the luxury amenities. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the restaurant served delicious food with a variety of options. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for scenic and comfortable accommodation in Rotorua.
We booked with family to stay at golden motel with the photo on website looks better but when we arrive it was so bad our room was given upstairs my wife is 7months pregnant bath tab was wit a note saying can not be used
We told staffs on site we cant stay in hiya this is not what the photo was showing
We booked another hotel thru booking com
We did complain on phone to booking com staffs
We were charged full amount for not staying the the motel which was zero in standard
we had read mixed reviews about this place but thought we should check it out as this was the only place within our budget that offered 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and a Private Spa! we were glad we made the decision to stay here as it was beyond what we had expected. Our suite was very cosy and clean to a 5 star standard. The hotel staff were exceptionally wonderful especially Sam who catered to our every need. we will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Rotorua
Staff were very polite and helpful, especially the staff at breakfast! They were very busy but always smiling. Buffet breakfast was plentiful and fresh. Options for hot and cold items- meats, eggs, cheeses, danishes, yogurts, juices and fresh fruit. Close location to the shops, Eat Street, Polynesian Spa. Great charm and character for a historic hotel. Our 2 bedroom suite was spacious and had upgraded bathrooms and kitchenette. Very nice toiletries provided.
Very nice hotel at honest price. We were very happy. Large room. Strong air con. Good wifi. Everything clean and good repair. Great breakfast buffet with cappuccino machines. Excellent location on the lake.
Guest laundry is all free washer, dryer, and soap. Great opportunity to catch up with dirty clothes.
Rotorua is an amazing area with lots to see. We had 5 nights here and could have spent a week or more without running out of activities.
Very close to Rotorua lakefront, very walkable. Nice mineral soaking pools. Very eco-friendly practices - loved it! Best of all, the extremely, friendly, helpful and responsive staff. Shoutout to Chloe and Poppy who helped with early checkin, calling airport for lost water bottle, booking canopy tour, suggesting restaurants for vegetarians… they were so friendly and helpful. 5 stars and beyond!!
We had to make a change of plans due to an injury and one of our party was in a w/c.
Richard was really good about working with us to make the changes that we needed.
We would highly recommend this hotel.
They treated us very kindly and professionally.
Fantastic stop especially if you've been in hotels a lot or a small group/family. We enjoyed using the facilities and was nice to be able to cook a meal. If you have a small family I imagine this being a great wee getaway
Great hotel for a family vacation, we loved the heated pool and the playroom, having an option of buffet meals meant we never had to worry about where to eat. Having an EV changer on-site was also a great bonus.
The location is good with plenty or nearby parking if the main hotel carpark is full. Beds were comfortable. Free wifi was very fast and easy to connect to. Breakfast was okay but had decent selection.
Good hotel in rotorua for the strategic position betweeen the Centre and the main attractions like te puia and redwood walk.
Essential room, nice staff and very good service about the gym .
It was OK Ok.. Nothing great to recommend. Could have gone to a motel or 5star hotels like holiday Inn and got better deal then the kind of money spent here for the room.
Loved this place! I’ve stayed at lots of hotels/motels in Rotorua before for various sporting events for my kids and I’d definitely be back to stay here again!
staff was easy to communicate with; location was close to most everything in Rotorua (given you have a car); the rooms were honest and nice for a motel status
